What Is Alcohol Use Disorder?

Alcohol use disorder is a chronic brain disorder where a person loses control of their drinking and keeps drinking despite adverse consequences. It isn’t a moral failing or a lack of willpower. It’s chemical changes in your brain that can benefit from addiction treatment.

  • Feeling a lack of control
  • Heavy/binge drinking
  • Needing more to get drunk
  • Drinking alone or in the morning
  • Hiding drinking from others
  • Stopping activities to drink
  • Hurt relationships or career
  • Withdrawal symptoms

Our Alcohol Rehab Programs in Washington

Recovery occurs in stages. Our alcohol treatment programs provide support at each stage to give you the best chance at lasting sobriety.

What Happens in Alcohol Rehab?

At The Recovery Village Ridgefield, we treat the whole person — not just their alcohol addiction. Our methods are backed by research and results, then customized for each patient’s needs.

Continuum of Care

People are more likely to relapse if they leave rehab before they’re ready. Our patients can step down to lower treatment levels as they recover so they always have the support they need.

One-on-One Counseling

Our licensed counselors help each person address their physical, mental and emotional symptoms and find the root causes of their drinking behaviors.

Get Well with Peers

Patients receive group therapy to get guidance, fellowship and support from peers who understand the day-to-day realities of alcohol addiction.

Purposeful Relaxation

Downtime helps patients reflect, build friendships with peers and grow hobbies that support recovery. Recreational activities like art therapy support these goals.

Nutritious Meals

Excessive alcohol use can often lead to nutritional deficits. Our chef creates delicious, healthy meals that meet patients’ nutrition needs as they recover.

Relapse Prevention

Recovery continues long after leaving rehab. Our aftercare program offers patient-specific relapse prevention plans, referrals, recommendations and follow-ups.

Excellent
Staff was top drawer, on top of their game. Food and especially rehydration drinks needs alot of work.
The The nicest and most caring staff ever who truly do seem to care about each and every one of you, Every day, I was excited for food because it was always delicious, The bonds I made even after recovery still stay strong today
I can’t speak highly enough of this place after attending their residential treatment for 18 days, partial hospitalization living in a cottage for 27 days, then another month in their intensive outpatient program. Although I would suggest RVR to anyone with the most severe addiction issues, I especially recommend them to people who may be mostly functional and think they are borderline on the spectrum of substance use disorder. I was in the latter category but wish I came here years ago. They got me in the same day I sought out treatment.

I’ve stayed sober for over 80 days at the time of this post and feel like a different person on a progressive path towards being my best self. The treatment program was ideally constructed to create an atmosphere of growth, safety, and connection by expert mental health professionals. They were all very good and a handful of the clinician instructors were exceptional, greatly exceeding expectations. The behavioral health technicians and nurses also routinely went above and beyond. I particularly appreciated the attention of a skillful individual therapist during my time there and the way they set us up for success in recovery. This isn’t just a place to get sober but a recovery path for long-term sobriety and growth. THANK YOU!
They were the only place that would take my insurance for one thing. All of the staff are respectful and understanding of our needs. 90% of the counselor/instructors are super smart, and teach us what we really need to know. I made a lot of good friends. The kitchen crew went out of their way for my special diet. The detox is THE best I've been to. It did what it was supposed to. I'm happy I went!
Nothing but love and care from all the staff and nurses, with a wonderful and comfortable detox program
Unfortunately I have been there more than once- they are great. Kind, compassionate and open.
Response from the owner:Tom, your honesty is valued, and we're always here for you—compassion and understanding are core to our mission. Thank you for your trust!
